  • Blue Flax - (Linum lewisii)

    Blue Flax

    (Linum lewisii)
    Height: 1–2 feet
    Spread: .5–1 feet
    USDA Hardiness Zone: 2a

Blue Flax is a low growing hardy north american native with brilliant blue flowers that bloom in the spring and fall. It is a self seeding perennial that excels in dry cold climates and marginal soils.

Its flowers are edible and provide valuable forage for pollinators as well.

  • Honeyberry - (Lonicera spcs.)

    Honeyberry

    (Lonicera spcs.)
    Height: 3–5 feet
    Spread: 2–4 feet
    USDA Hardiness Zone: 2a

Honeyberries are the blueberries equivalents of our harsh northern climates, they are adaptable to our hard weather, lack of moisture, and alkaline soil pH. This tough little plant can take the harshest cold even after the leaves and blossoms are out.

They do require different varieties to cross pollinate which increases yields. We sell several different varieties like: Aurora, Boreal Beast, Honey Bee, and more.

These are an absolute must-have for any fruit loving home gardener.

  • Potentilla - (Potentilla fruticosa)

    Potentilla

    (Potentilla fruticosa)
    Height: 3–4 feet
    Spread: 2–3 feet
    USDA Hardiness Zone: 2a

Potentillas are a beautiful small woody shrub that can grow just about anywhere in MT. They often have yellow everbearing flowers but we carry varieties as well that have different colors like orange, white and even pink.

They are drought tolerant, cold tolerant and resistant to herbivory by animals like rabbits and deer making them an ideal choice for ranch and country home landscaping. They are tolerant of a range of soil types but don't like saturated soil conditions.

  • Prairie Coneflower - (Ratibida columnifera)

    Prairie Coneflower

    (Ratibida columnifera)
    Height: .5–1.5 feet
    Spread: .25–.5 feet
    USDA Hardiness Zone: 4a

Prairie coneflower is a fast growing native herbaceous perennial plant with mid-summer distinct red petaled flowers. It is tolerant of alkaline soils and drought which makes it an ideal fit for Montana's climate and conditions. It is an excellent forage for pollinators like bees and butterflies too.

Prairie coneflower make an excellent addition to flower gardens and landscape because they are compact and low maintenance.
